The Onion Producers and Marketers Association of Nigeria (OPMAN) has said it will stop supply to southern Nigeria beginning from Monday if government fails to respond to their demands.

The threat by the body was made known their President, Aliyu Isa after their meeting in Sokoto at the weekend. The Body’s President alleged that members of the body because of attacks in the South had lost property and onions worth about N4.5 billion.

OPMAN President, Aliyu Isa further stated that their demand is that their members that have suffered losses as a result of the crisis in the south be duly compensated. He further called that rule of law should be maintained in those areas with a thorough investigation carried out to find out the reasons behind the attacks on their members. But that if the demands were not met by Monday, 7th June 2021, that they will be shutting down the supply of onions to the South.
